Bihar Patrakar Samman Pension Yojana has been started by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The Bihar government is planning to revise the old version of the Bihar Journalist Pension Scheme by making some amendments in the pension rules. In this article, we will tell you about the complete details of Bihar Patrakar Samman Pension Yojana.
The Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD) changed the name of the scheme from the earlier Journalist Pension Scheme to Journalist Samman Pension Yojana on the instructions of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. IPRD has also made necessary amendments in the existing pension rules to benefit eligible retired journalists.

Benefits of Bihar Patrakar Samman Pension Scheme
According to the existing rules of the scheme, the beneficiary will get the benefit of pension. 6,000 per month will be given as pension to the beneficiary (retired journalist).
Eligibility Criteria for Bihar Patrakar Samman Yojana
- Retired journalist having minimum experience of 20 years will be eligible for Bihar Patrakar Samman Pension Scheme.
- Any retired journalist who has crossed 60 years of age will be eligible for the Journalist Pension Scheme.
Beneficiaries of Bihar Patrakar Samman Pension Scheme
Bihar state government has selected a total of 46 retired journalists to provide financial assistance in the current year. However, the pension amount was transferred to the bank accounts of those journalists whose applications were approved till November last year. The applications of the remaining journalists were approved in March 2021. Hence the pension amount in their bank accounts will be transferred on completion of the month.

Bihar journalist pension scheme in budget 2021
The government also requested the delegation of journalists to give some effective suggestions for the Journalist Samman Pension Scheme. CM asked the journalists that which method should be used to certify the eligibility criteria of minimum 20 years of work experience in the field of journalism.
Earlier some journalists had requested the government to increase the amount of pension but the government turned down this request. Bihar Patrakar Samman Yojana was formed in February 2015 during the regime of former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi.
