Air hostess is one of the high profile professions in India desired by many young graduates. The profession of air hostess is like a dream come true for young girls.

In this profession you not only get good paying career travel lover but also meet different people from all over the world, get to see different locations, get a chance to meet celebrities, business tycoons and many more. There is something to be learned as well.

The job of air hostess seems as an easy job, but she has many responsibilities in the plane and it is not an easy job.

He has to greet every passenger, coordinate with the security, make the passenger’s air travel comfortable, guide the passengers during the disposal of their seat.

1. Educational Qualification for Air Hostess Course Educational Qualification for Air Hostess Course

The minimum educational qualification for doing Air Hostess course is 10+2. It is one of the best course to pursue HSC. However, if you are going for PG Air Hostess course then the minimum qualification will be graduation.

Though there are academies which are also offering a course for the candidates who are just 10th pass but you should not join because it is better to join after you have completed your 10+2.

In addition, you must know Hindi, English and any other foreign language.

2. Age and Marital Status Age and Marital Status

The age limit generally depends on the policy of a particular institution. Generally academies prefer candidates in the age group of 17 years and 26 years.

Marital status also depends on the policy of a given academy. Although they prefer unmarried girls but some institutions allow married women as well.

3. Physical Standards Physical Standards

Air hostess jobs are all about behavior and physical appearance. In the next section we will talk about behavioral skills but here we look at some of the physical standards required by the institutions.

The minimum height required should be 5.2” or 157 cm. The weight of the candidate should be in proportion to his height. Skin complexion matters and so should fair to clear complexion. Physical fit and attractive physique.

A candidate should not have a history of mental illness. Eye sight requirement is 6/9. Some airlines may offer some concessions. You should not suffer from any major disease.

To become an air hostess, mere general qualification like academic, physical or medical is not enough. You need more than this. From this job candidates are expected to acquire certain behavioral skills which reflect their personality.

pleasing personality (Pleasing Personality), Along with good appearance, there should also be a melodious voice. You have to be friendly to the passengers on board. A friendly outgoing personality makes an air hostess.

good communication skills (Good Communication Skills), You need to be able to communicate with passengers and help them if they need anything. Better communication skills are very important to convince passengers. Language proficiency is essential here.

presence of mind (Presence of Mind), If an emergency landing occurs, the air hostess will have to use her brain and give all necessary instructions to the gullible passengers on board. They have to show great presence of mind in any such event.

team work: You have to work with the entire cabin crew. Usually a cabin crew on a domestic flight consists of more than 12 – 14 members. So you have to work together.

Work prepared for long hours (Ready Work for Long Hours), Flight delays are very common and hence sometimes you have to put in extra effort. At least 3 to 4 hours extra if a flight is delayed due to weather or any other reasons.

Test Examination

Every airline company conducts examination for the recruitment of air hostess. Generally a whole selection process can be divided into 3 stages.

Written exam (Written Examination, The written test tests your aptitude and reasoning. The exam pattern is very similar to other competitive exams where they ask a variety of objective type questions.

So to clear the written exam you can prepare just like aspirants prepare for other competitive exams.

Group Dynamics or GD (Group Dynamics or GD), The second stage is the Group Discussion where you will be tested for presence of mind, communication skills, teamwork, leadership quality, your attitude etc. For this, you must be well prepared for Group Discussion.

Interview (Interview), The third and final round is one on an interview. Here the company will judge you for your overall personality. If selected, the company will train you for the next six months.

There are three types of courses.

Air Hostess Salary Air Hostess Salary

The salary of an air hostess depends on the airline company she is working with.

Usually a company pays its air hostess anything between Rs 20,000 to Rs 80,000. Domestic airlines pay Rs 20,000 to 35,000 and international airlines can pay up to Rs 80,000 depending on experience. However, some luxurious international airliners can pay their senior air hostess anything between Rs 100,000 to Rs 200,000 per month.
