PM Awas Yojana Extended : Many important decisions were taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. The cabinet has approved the continuation of Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana till March 2024. After the meeting, Union Minister Anurag Thakur informed about the decision of the cabinet.
PM Awas Yojana Extended
It has been decided to extend the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana of the Central Government till 2024. Union Minister Anurag Thakur informed about this decision of the cabinet today. Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana was started by PM Modi in the year 2015. Through the PM Awas Yojana, financial assistance is provided to the citizens of rural areas to repair the house and build a house. This financial assistance is ₹ 120000 for land in flat areas and ₹ 130000 for hilly areas.
The Union Minister said that under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana, housing will be ensured to all in rural areas. He said that in the year 2016 regarding housing for all (PM Awas Yojana) in rural areas, it was estimated that 2.95 crore people would need pucca houses. In this, housing has been provided to a large number of families.
PM Housing Scheme
Anurag Thakur said that till March 2021, Rs 1.97 lakh crore has been spent on Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana. Out of this, the central government has spent Rs 1,44,162 crore. For the construction of the remaining pucca houses, the government has approved Rs 2,17,257 crore so that the rest of the families can get pucca houses (PM Awas Yojana) by 2024. In this, the total expenditure of the central government will be Rs 1,43,782 crore.
Thakur said that it has been decided to continue this scheme till 2024 so that remaining families can also get housing. According to the statement of the government, the construction of the remaining 1.55 crore houses under this Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana will have a financial impact of Rs 2.17 crore, in which the central share will be Rs 1.25 lakh crore and the state share will be Rs 73,475 crore. Under this, an additional requirement of Rs 18,676 crore will be required for repayment of additional interest to NABARD.
Ken-Betwa project will be connected
Apart from this, the Modi government has approved the Ken-Betwa link project. Anurag Thakur said that this project connecting Ken Betwa rivers (PM Awas Yojana) at a cost of Rs 44,605 crore will be completed in 8 years. The contribution of the central government will be 90 percent in this national project.
PM Awas Yojana Extended : Online Registration
Many poor people of the country have built houses with the help of Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana. The government has given them a subsidy of Rs 2.67 lakh to build a house. The names of the beneficiaries will be released under the new list of this scheme. Under PMAY-G New List, the names of the beneficiaries selected for this scheme will come. Beneficiaries who will be named in the revised list of Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana 2020 and PMAY-G can take advantage of this scheme and get money to build a permanent house.
